Block Words From Being Shared Using Blocklist

As social media continues to evolve, it has become increasingly important for companies to provide tools for employees to share content online while mitigating risks by filtering out unwanted content. One effective way to do this is by using blocklisting terms, which allows Admins to exclude specific words or phrases from content shared from EveryoneSocial. Whether the company wants to avoid product spoilers and leaking intellectual property, filter out hateful speech, or curate a more positive online environment, blocklisting terms can be a powerful tool.

In this article, we will explore how to activate and use the blocklist to increase confidence that content shared by users is approved by the company and follows regulations.

FAQ

Can I upload a list of terms?
Blocked terms are entered using the paragraph field and cannot be added by uploading a file. However, you can paste a list of terms in the field. Terms are subject to the requirements listed and must be separated using commas.
What is considered a special character?
A special character is a symbol or character that is not part of the standard alphabet or numeric set used in a given language or writing system. Special characters can include punctuation marks such as periods, commas, semicolons, and symbols such as @, #, $, %, &, *, and +. We also consider some languages to use special characters, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Will a term get blocked if a punctuation mark immediately follows it?

Yes. We block terms if a punctuation mark follows after it without a space. For example, if you choose to block the word Blue, Blue! gets flagged and the share is blocked from posting.

Do you stop different variations of a blocked word from sharing, such as h@te being blocked because hate is a blocklist?

It’s not possible now, but we are working on term variations to be included in blocklist.
