How EveryoneSocial Uses Social Network Permissions
EveryoneSocial uses OAuth to securely connect with social networks like LinkedIn, so you can easily share content without juggling multiple logins. In this article, we’ll walk through what OAuth is, how it works with EveryoneSocial, and what permissions you’re granting when you connect your accounts. We’ll also clear up some common concerns about privacy and security along the way.
Note: This article does not supersede or replace our terms and policies.
What is OAuth?
OAuth is a secure way for two apps or services to connect without sharing passwords. EveryoneSocial uses OAuth to safely link with networks like LinkedIn so you can share content from one place.
Instead of storing your password, EveryoneSocial gets a temporary access token. This lets us post approved content for you for a limited time. Once the token expires, you’ll just need to reconnect your account.
How OAuth Works in EveryoneSocial
When you connect a social account, you’re giving EveryoneSocial permission (through OAuth) to do specific things on your behalf — like post content. These permissions depend on the network. We never see your password or access private content.
Authorized Permissions & Actions
We partner with social networks as a trusted third-party app. Here’s what that means for what we can (and can’t) do:
We can:
- Create posts for the social accounts you’ve connected
- Pull engagement stats on content shared through EveryoneSocial
- See how many 1st-degree connections you have on LinkedIn
We don’t:
- Store your LinkedIn login credentials
- Impersonate you
- Take action without your say-so

Where Authorization Persists
Your connected social accounts are tied to your EveryoneSocial profile — not just one Workspace. So if you’re in more than one Workspace, your social accounts and permissions carry over.
Why social networks disconnect
There are many reasons why a social network might disconnect from EveryoneSocial, even if you’ve previously authorized it. A few of those reasons are listed below. This includes some of the most common reasons social networks disconnect, but this is not an exhaustive list.
1. Token Expiration
Each network sets its own timeframe. For example, LinkedIn’s authorization lasts up to 365 days.
2. Permission or Role Changes
If your access to a Page or Business account changes, or if the Page has settings like age/location restrictions, posting from EveryoneSocial may no longer work.
Reauthorizing Accounts
OAuth isn’t a one-and-done thing. When your connection expires, you’ll see a heads-up in EveryoneSocial asking you to reconnect. It’s quick - just a few clicks.
