Add a Video Thumbnail
Videos are an important part of social marketing and choosing the right thumbnail can mean the difference between 0 and 1000 engagements. In this article, we’ll go over how to select a video thumbnail for videos uploaded to EveryoneSocial. Thumbnails will be used on the Timeline and will be the shared video’s thumbnail.
Let’s get started.
🔹 This is available on all plans.
🔸 This is accessible to all roles and permission levels.
Upload the video
Compose an internal post, and upload a video. The video thumbnail can be selected after a video is uploaded, whether pre- or post-publication.
Select the video thumbnail
Once the video is uploaded, you can select a video thumbnail. There are three choices for the thumbnail.
Use the pre-selected thumbnail
The pre-selected thumbnail is the default and will always be the first frame of the video. No action is necessary to use this thumbnail option. Click Publish or Save to confirm the selection.
If the default pre-selected thumbnail was updated and should be reselected, use the Capture option to reselect the first frame of the video.
Capture an image from the video
Once the video has finished uploading, you can capture an image from the video by taking the following steps in the post’s edit screen.
- Play the video and go to the preferred frame.
- Click Capture.
- Click Publish or Save to confirm changes.
Upload a thumbnail
A custom image can be uploaded and used as the video thumbnail. Upload a custom image in the post’s edit screen.
- Click Upload.
- Select the image from your device.
- Click Publish or Save to confirm changes.
Image thumbnail dimensions
Here are the recommended dimensions for uploading images to use as a video’s thumbnail.
- Aspect ratio: 16:9
Keep in mind, the image will default to the video’s dimensions. For example, if the image is smaller than recommended dimensions, the image will not scale. It will have a black border that extends to the video’s dimensions.
