Brand Voice for AI-Generated Copy
Brand Voice is a description of how AI-generated copy should sound in your workspace. The text you save is appended to every AI assist prompt, so it shapes post titles, notes to team, and share copy alike. Set it once and every AI generation follows it.
Brand Voice is configured by Admins. It applies to the whole workspace, not to individual groups or users.
Set your Brand Voice
- Go to Admin > Settings.
- Under AI, select Brand Voice.
- Enter your description in the text field. The limit is 2,000 characters.
- Click Save.
The change takes effect on the next generation. Copy that was already generated is not rewritten.
What to write
Write instructions, not adjectives. "Professional and engaging" gives the model nothing to act on, because every brand believes that about itself. Specifics change the output.
The things worth being explicit about:
- Who is speaking. An employee sharing in their own voice reads differently from a corporate account. Say which one you want.
- Formality and person. Whether to write in first person, whether contractions are fine, whether "we" means the company or the team.
- Words you use and words you do not. Product names spelled correctly, the terms you have standardized on, and the jargon you want avoided.
- Punctuation and formatting rules. Whether emoji are acceptable, whether hashtags are wanted and how many, whether questions at the end are encouraged.
- Claims to avoid. Anything your legal or compliance team does not want asserted casually, such as performance claims or customer names.
A worked example:
Write as an individual employee sharing something they found interesting, not as the company. First person, contractions fine, no corporate throat-clearing. Never claim we are the leading or number one provider of anything. Do not name customers. Two hashtags maximum, at the end. End with a genuine question where it fits naturally. Spell product names exactly as they appear in our style guide.
How it works with your other settings
- Blocklist Terms. Generated copy respects your blocklist. Brand Voice shapes tone, and the blocklist enforces hard exclusions. Use the blocklist for words that must never appear, not Brand Voice. See Block Words From Being Shared Using Blocklist.
- AI Share Copy. Brand Voice has no effect until AI Share Copy is enabled on your workspace. See AI Share Copy.
- Disclosures. Required disclosure text is applied separately when a post is created and is not something Brand Voice should be asked to produce. See Understanding Disclosures.
Everything AI generates is a suggestion. It is editable, and nothing publishes until a person deliberately posts or shares it. Brand Voice raises the quality of the starting point, it does not replace review.
Review it periodically
Brand Voice is easy to set and then forget. Read a handful of recently generated posts every quarter and ask whether they sound like your company. When they drift, the fix is usually one more specific instruction rather than a rewrite.
FAQ
Does Brand Voice apply to copy people write themselves?
No. It only shapes what AI generates. Copy typed by a person is untouched.
Can different groups have different voices?
No. Brand Voice is set once for the workspace.
Does it apply to every network?
Yes. It is appended to every AI assist prompt, so it applies to the post title, the Note to Team, and the share copy generated for each network.
What happens if I leave it empty?
Generation still works. You get generic, competent copy with no house style applied.
