Choosing a Share Copy Option
When you share a post, EveryoneSocial often gives you more than one version of the copy to choose from. Those are share copy options, written ahead of time by whoever created the post so you are not starting from a blank box. This article covers how to pick one, how to edit it, and why editing is worth the thirty seconds.
Where the options appear
Click Share on any post. The share screen opens with the post on the left and one card per destination on the right.
Each network you have switched on shows its own copy, with tabs labeled Option 1, Option 2, and Option 3 when more than one has been written. Click a tab to load that version into the text area below it. Whichever tab is showing when you share is the copy that publishes.
On the post card in your timeline, the network icon strip shows a count such as "3 Configurations". That is how many pre-written copy options are waiting for you.
Copy is written per network, so the LinkedIn version and the X version are usually different lengths and read differently. Check each destination you have enabled rather than assuming they match.
Edit before you share
The text area is fully editable. Anything you type replaces the option for your share only, and it does not change the post for anyone else.
Each network shows a character counter, because the limits differ. LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters, Facebook allows 1,000, and the others vary. What to Know About Character Limits has the full list.
Two things worth adding in your own words:
- Why you are sharing it. One sentence of your own opinion at the top outperforms a clean corporate caption, because your network follows you rather than the company.
- A question. Comments are worth more than reactions, and the fastest way to get one is to ask for it.
Mentioning a company
You can mention a company page in your copy by typing @ followed by the company name and selecting it from the list.
On LinkedIn you can mention company pages only, never people. LinkedIn does not allow tagging personal profiles from a third-party tool. If the @ list returns nothing at all on LinkedIn, your LinkedIn connection has usually expired. Reconnect it in Account Settings and the list starts working again. See Mention People and Companies in Shares.
Share now or later
The Share Now button at the bottom of the screen is a split button. Use the dropdown to choose Share Later and pick a date and time instead.
Spreading shares across the week beats posting several at once. See Maximize Your Time Using the Scheduler.
FAQ
Why do some posts only have one option?
Because only one was written. Whoever created the post decides how many versions to supply. You can still edit the copy before sharing.
Do I have to use the pre-written copy?
No. Replace it entirely if you want to. The options exist to save you time, not to script you.
Does editing the copy affect my colleagues?
No. Your edits apply only to your share.
Can I share the same post more than once?
Yes. Once you have shared a post its button becomes Shared, and the dropdown offers Share Again. Pick a different copy option the second time so your feed does not repeat itself. See View Performance on a Share You Made.
Where does the copy come from?
An Admin, a Moderator, or a Contributor writes it when the post is created. Some workspaces also use AI Share Copy to generate the options.
